Conventional drying kilns

DRYING KILNS (VKS, VKS/rek)

The conventional (classic) method of drying is most often used for drying all types and humidity of timber.

Drying kilns of this type are technically relatively simple and do not require special maintenance.

All our drying kilns include: highly insulated aluminum construction, reversible heating and ventilation technology, maximum quality and drying performance, environmentally friendly solutions and energy efficiency.

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Drying all types and humidity of timber
  • Chamber capacity from 30 to 140m3 per drying cycle
  • Working medium: hot water system 90 / 70oC or steam 2.5 bar
  • Maximal working temperature 80 °C
  • Standard dryer width: 4.6 / 6.6 / 8.6 / 10.6 / 13.0 m
  • Standard depth of dryer: 7.0 / 8.5 m
  • Stacking height: 4.1 / 4.5 / 5.1 m
  • Dryers can be constructed according to the customer’s request
  • Automatic control of the drying process via the MC-2000 or MC-3000 automatic controllers installed for each dryer individually
  • Remote monitoring and control on a PC using Nigos DryerManager software, via RS485 standard

Heat recovery unit (recuperator) installed in chamber type VKS/REK allows up to 50% higher heat recovery rates to be achieved. In addition of thermal efficiency, the use of a heat recovery unit also shortens the drying time and improves the quality of the dried material. Investment in heat recovery units is minimal and return of investment period is very short.

Energy consumption is also mitigated by the use of wood waste or sawdust as a fuel for heating the boiler, so this type of drying kiln is recommended to customers who have at their disposal a boiler or wood waste in significant quantities.

Electric energy savings are also achieved by changing the fan speed, via frequency inverters installed for each fan separately.

“NIGOS – electronic” gives its customers 3 years warranty for whole kiln, and 5 years for the automatic control unit.

TECHNICAL FEATURES:

  • Complete construction of solid aluminum profiles allows high roof loads (up to 250kg / m2 of snow) and resistance of the drying kiln to wind gusts of 150km / h
  • Drying kiln walls made of aluminum cassettes, connected with stainless steel screws and silicone of high resistance to temperature and acid from wood
  • Insulation of hard pressed wool 10 cm thick
  • Exterior facade of sinusoidal aluminum sheets
  • Aluminum subceiling allows even circulation through all layers
  • Heat exchangers made of stainless steel and bimetallic pipes stainless steel / aluminum 25/54
  • Complete hot water installation with stainless steel pipes in the kiln
  • Reversible fans with high efficiency (H-class motors)
  • Energy saving by changing the fan speed, via frequency inverters for each fan separately
  • Heat recovery unit for air exchange (only for VKS / REK models) enables finer air exchange and thermal energy savings of 30-50%
  • Additional servo flaps
  • High pressure humidifying system (pump, valve, filter, etc.); double: on the back wall and in the front of the false ceiling (nozzles, stainless steel pipes)
  • The loading door is lifted and moved by a sliding mechanism
  • Inspection door at the back of the dryer and / or in the main door
  • Possibility of installing equipment, doors and control systems in the customer’s masonry building.
  • Control room (option) is an additional room where power electric boards are fitted. Some other equipment like humidification system distribution, heating collector and slitter, heating substation etc. can also be installed.
  • In multi-chamber dryers, individual chambers are built in a row, have common walls, a common door lifting mechanism and a common control room.
